Firefighters dragged bales of smouldering hay out of a barn after smoke was spotted billowing into the sky.

It was the second time crews had been to the farm near Craven Arms.

Lionel Bradley, who runs Lower Langley Farm in Milson, first dialled 999 on Monday at 6.30pm when bales of hay contained within a huge barn began to smoulder.

After a huge operation by 27 firefighters more than 300 bales were saved with only eight destroyed.

Mr Bradley said he left the bales out in a freezing field all day yesterday before moving them back in the barn at about 4.30pm.

But he said: "I put the bales back in and there must have been one still burning.

"Smoke began to billow out of the barn and I had to phone the firemen again.

"It was the same guys who came out on Monday, they could not believe it.

"We used the tractor to drag the bales out, fortunately we only lost one or two."
