Plans have been unveiled for a 55-bed nursing home in Cleobury Mortimer – on the same day a land deal was struck for the town's new £1 million medical practice.
The nursing home will be built on the former Cleobury Precision Engineering site by developers Blue Square Commercial.
It is hoped the plans will go on display this month before a formal application is submitted.
The proposed home will be opposite the town's new medical practice after councillors yesterday signed a contract to sell the former Muller England land in the town to healthcare developers Matrix Medical for £170,000.
Councillors were told of the plans for the nursing home at a meeting of Cleobury Mortimer Parish Council last night.
Councillor Gwilym Butler, Shropshire councillor for Cleobury Mortimer, said the new nursing home could bring several new jobs to the town and would allow elderly people stay in the town.
