Tributes as victim of crash is named as Peter McShane

A 27-year-old man killed after his car swerved off a busy Wolverhampton road before hitting metal bollards and a tree was named today as Peter McShane.

A 27-year-old man killed after his car swerved off a busy Wolverhampton road before hitting metal bollards and a tree was named today as Peter McShane.

Paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene of the accident in Birmingham Road at its junction with Curzon Street, Blakenhall around 11.25pm on Sunday night.

Mr McShane, who is understood to have had a child and lived in Wolverhampton, was driving an MG Rover and was certified dead at the scene.

Tributes were today left at the scene of the accident by friends and family.

Meanwhile a man in his 30s today remained in a serious condition in hospital after his red Saab crashed into a central reservation along the A449 Penn Road, Penn at 3.30am yesterday.

The man's car flipped over and he was thrown on to the road. He was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious leg, hip and spinal injuries. He remains in a serious condition in intensive care after undergoing surgery today.

The busy Penn Road was shut between Pennhouse Avenue and Manor Road following the crash yesterday.
