This is the first image of a planned 60-bed nursing home which will form part of a new medical 'district' in Cleobury Mortimer.

The nursing home, which is the brainchild of developers Blue Square Commercial, will be built on High Street opposite the site of a planned £1 million medical practice to serve the town and surrounding villages. It will also include an eight-bed specialist unit.

People living in the area are now being urged to attend a public consultation event on the plans for the nursing home, which will be held at Cleobury Mortimer Market Hall on Saturday (FEB 25).

Bosses behind the scheme have claimed the new nursing home will enable people living in south east Shropshire to be cared for closer to their families rather than having to be placed in homes further away.

The nursing home plan was put forward by Blue Square Commercial chiefs after the firm failed in a last-ditch attempt to win the contract to build the town's new medical practice, which will now be built on the former Muller Engineering site.

Building work will include demolishing a bungalow in Fryers Close and replacing it with two detached houses.
