Residents flee Shifnal fire at The Manor House
A woman was lucky to be alive today after a fire broke out while she slept at an apartment near Shifnal.
A woman was lucky to be alive today after a fire broke out while she slept at an apartment near Shifnal.
The woman, who was in her 30s, woke during the fire shortly before 1am at The Manor House, near The Wyke, and managed to flee.
Fire crews arrived on the scene to find her and about five other residents outside the three-storey building.
The woman was suffering from the effects of inhaling smoke and she was given emergency treatment by firefighters.
West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Suzie Fothergill said: "We treated one female for smoke inhalation.
"She appeared to be okay and didn't require hospital treatment."
A woman living in the apartment above the one hit by fire was also left suffering from the effects of smoke after she had attempted to tackle the fire.
She was given oxygen at the scene by firefighters but did not go to hospital.
