Vandals smashed windows with concrete and bricks at a string of properties during a wrecking spree on a Telford housing estate in the early hours of today.
The yobs launched the bricks and lumps of concrete through the downstairs windows of the seven houses on Sutton Hill at 2am. Residents were woken by the sound of smashing glass and discovered the damage.
The houses which were targeted included two on Southgate, two on Spring Meadow, and one property on each of Stonedale, Summer Hill and Stebbings.
Hundreds of pounds of damage was caused and despite a police search of the area nobody was found.
The houses which were targeted were on neighbouring roads on the estate.
It is not known if one person was responsible for the vandalism or if a gang was going around the estate.
Forensic teams are examining the bricks for any evidence such as finger prints.
Police said it was lucky nobody was injured.
Denise Wakefield, Telford police spokeswoman said: "A number of householders in the Sutton Hill area were woken at about 2am by the sound of broken glass.
"It appears that vandals threw pieces of concrete and bricks through downstairs windows. All properties appear to have been randomly targeted.
"Fortunately nobody was injured due to the fact that the majority of householders were asleep upstairs.
"We sent a number of officers to the area but nobody was located.
"There doesn't seem to be any motive. It's sheer wanton vandalism.
"Police are investigating the matter and would appeal to anyone with information to come forward.
"If you were awake and saw anything suspicious or if you have any information in relation to who may be responsible, then we would like to hear from you."
Anyone with any information should call West Mercia Police on 101.
