The assault on Hawkestone Arms barman James Benbow, 32, happened on Saturday after he escorted his wife's sister home from the town pub at 1.45am.
Mr Benbow, who is also a West Midlands Ambulance Service Community First Responder, said two men demanded money in Aston Road.
His wife, Mel Benbow, 30, said her husband was not carrying any money.
"One of the men then approached him from behind and shoved him to the ground", said Mrs Benbow.
"He fell forward and smashed his face. He suffered cuts to his head, nose, and lip.
"He also broke his new £300 glasses when he hit the ground. The two men then ran away."
West Mercia Police is investigating the incident and has appealed for anyone with information to call officers on 0300 333 3000.
