Parts of Shropshire and Mid Wales were left under a light blanket of snow – after the region was hit by an unexpected blast of wintry weather.

The Wrekin in Telford was briefly covered with a thin coat of snow which fell yesterday.

The blast also coated the Long Mynd near Church Stretton and turned the hills into a picture postcard. Long Mountain near Welshpool also got a covering. Bridgnorth, Shrewsbury and other parts of the county saw about half an hour of snowfall which gradually turned into sleet, hail and rain before clearing away by the afternoon.
