Parts of the A49 in south Shropshire will shut this month causing traffic problems for motorists.

The road closure for resurfacing work will begin tonight at Grove Bank, Winstanstow, before spreading down to stretches of the trunk road near Ludlow and Tenbury Wells.

The Highways Agency will carry out the work between 8pm to 6am to minimise the disruption but drivers may face long diversions.

Works to resurface part of the A49 in Winstanstow will begin today and last for two nights.

The roadworks could cause up to 30 minutes of extra travel time.

On Saturday night almost 400 metres of road will be re-laid at the A4133 junction, Bromfield, near Tenbury Wells.

These works will also last two nights.

Then on March 19 work on part of the A49 between Woofferton and Ashford Carbonell near Ludlow will begin and continue until March 24.

Diversions will be in place while the works are taking place.
