A vulnerable 29-year-old man has gone missing from his home in Shrewsbury, sparking a major police search.
Police say they are concerned for the welfare and safety of Matthew Ki Wallace, who was last seen at around 4pm yesterday when he left the Christian Centre in Castle Foregate where he had been staying.
Officers made an immediate search of Shrewsbury town centre and the surrounding areas but found no trace. They have continued searching throughout the night but have now issued an appeal for information to ensure his safe return.
Inspector Scott Harris, of West Mercia Police, said this afternoon: "We are anxious to hear from anyone who has seen Mr Wallace or who has been in telephone contact with him.
"There is growing concern for his welfare and we are anxious to establish he is safe and well. We are appealing for any information which might help the ongoing search. Please call Shrewsbury police station on 101."
It is thought Mr Wallace may have initially gone to the nearby railway station intending to catch a train to London. There is also a possibility he went to the Ditherington, Castlefields or Harlescott areas, officers say.
He is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall, clean shaven, of slim build, with short dark brown hair and walks with a limp. Those who saw him shortly before his disappearance say he was wearing a grey and blue Puffa jacket and dark dirty trousers.
