Farmers out in force for annual ploughing competition

It's a spectacle often seen in the Shropshire countryside – farmers on ploughs.

But this wasn't just an ordinary farming scene, it was Morville's annual ploughing match.

The event raised hundreds of pounds for the Midland Air Ambulance when it took place near Bridgnorth yesterday.

The Morville Countryside Ploughing Match, at Swancote Farm, near Bridgnorth, saw ploughing contractors and enthusiasts from across the county competing.

The competition started at 10am, with barbecued food and refreshments served throughout the day. Contestants took part in the event, including farmers from Mid Wales and north Shropshire. The annual ploughing match is organised by Morville Countryside Club.

The ploughing match is for farmers or enthusiasts who own vintage tractors and ploughs.

There are different classes ranging from novice rto experienced and also classes for the different types of tractors or ploughs used including horse drawn equipment. The event attracted more than 100 vehicles.
