The Major endurance race sees hundreds battle elements

When the going gets tough, the tough really get going. Hundreds of people battled mud, water and obstacles to take part in the Major series, a challenge that is not aimed at the faint-hearted.
More than 600 people converged on Weston Park to take part in either a 10km or 5km race.
Competitors set off at 10am on Saturday from the stately home near Shifnal, taking on a variety of challenges along the way.

A spokesman said: "The Major is all about character. It's not just a run. It's a major challenge. Running, mud, water, hills, obstacles. You mustn't let any of them stand in your way."
The Major posts his troops around the course aimed at encouraging people through the tough course.
People have to tackle Private Talbot's Trench, skid down Corporal Sander's Slide, attempt Lieutenant Hardy's Hills and wade through Sergeant Mallory's Mud Pit.
The 'Major' course is about 10 to 12km while the 'Minor' course is about 5 to 6km.
Military Course marshals were stationed at all the major obstacles or difficult sections on the course to help people through.
The course is aimed at people with an average level of fitness.
The spokesman said: "It's tough, but people will receive help and encouragement along the way."
Prizes were awarded to the fastest male and fastest female. Winners are due to be announced over the next few days.
The event was organised by British Military Fitness, in association with the Breast Cancer Campaign.
Anyone who missed out on Saturday, however, there will be another chance to get involved in October.The Major Series will be back at Weston Park on October 27. Volunteers are also needed.
