Ben, who attended the Wakeman School, was born with congenital heart disease and received a heart and lung transplant in 2007.

Last year his body started to reject the organs and he was given months to live by doctors.

After receiving the news he started his own 'bucket list' with the aim of carrying out as many of his dream wishes as possible in the time he had left, including going on the London Eye and meeting his favourite band Suede.

His wife today said she would always cherish their time together.

  • Farewell to Ben, an inspiration to all

"Ben fell asleep forever at around 4pm yesterday. He is now truly at peace. His strength, positivity and bravery were infectious and will live on in all of us," she said.

"I've lost my soul mate and the love of my life. A part of me died with Ben but an even bigger part of him lives on in me. He will always be a part of everything I do and I will cherish the memories we made."
