A huge £30,000 haul of ornaments – including some made of ivory – have been stolen from a business in Leominster, police said today.
Burglars smashed their way into a display case before fleeing with 15 ornaments.
The raiders forced their way into the business off Mill Street by breaking a door window.
They then sought out the display case which contained items mostly of Oriental origin.
Police say they used a tool of some sort to smash open the cabinet.
Once the burglars gained access to the case they stole 15 ornaments. The incident occurred on March 6 at around 11.25pm.
Many of the stolen ornaments are made from ivory and the total value of those taken is thought to be more than £30,000. An ornamental box was also stolen.
The alarm was triggered when the thieves smashed their way inside. Officers said it seemed the thieves were only on site for a short time.
Police say they are keen to hear from anyone who may have been offered the opportunity to buy any unusual ivory ornaments in the past two weeks.
They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may know where any of the stolen ornaments can now be found.
