Shrewsbury Town fans will be banned from parking along the club's main entrance from tonight in a bid to ease congestion around the stadium.

Motorists will not be allowed to park on the exit road at the Greenhous Meadow between the main entrance and the nearby traffic lights for the game against Cheltenham Town.

It follows concerns raised by fans that congestion was becoming a problem.

But Shropshire Council today said that free parking was still available at the Meole Brace Park and Ride car park. The club hopes the move will prevent delays as supporters leave the stadium in Oteley Road.

Alan Roberts, Shrewsbury Town safety officer, said the club would be proactively stewarding the area.
