A man in his 20s was arrested today in connection with a car fire which is being linked to a series of arson attacks in Telford.

Six cars were set on fire in Leegomery yesterday morning during a 30-minute wrecking spree.

And last night, another car, a Daewoo Matiz, was partly damaged by fire in Leegate Avenue, also in Leegomery, at about 8.25pm.

The man has been arrested in connection with that blaze.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service at Wellington said it was being treated as deliberate.

He said: "There was only a small amount of damage because a passer-by found it quickly.

"The way it burned would suggest that it was not down to a fault with the vehicle."

Officers today said they were linking the incident to the other car fires which happened between 1.50am and 2.20pm.
