The Armoury, on Victoria Quay, has been given permission by planning chiefs at Shirehall to install the cafe area as part of a bid to encourage a continental-style cafe culture.

It comes just days after Montgomery's Tower bar and restaurant, in Lower Claremont Bank, applied to have outdoor seating for a further 12 month period following a successful six-month trial.

The pavement cafe at The Armoury will consist of eight removable tables, each with four chairs and a parasol. The area will be enclosed by a removable post and rope barrier and will be in use between 10am and 11pm.
