A 22-year-old man appeared in court today charged with arson after a spate of attacks in which cars were set alight in Telford.

Nyle Keay, of Acacia Drive in Leegomery, Telford is accused of seven counts of arson.

It follows a series of attacks in which cars were set alight in the town.

All offences are alleged to have been committed on April 6 in Hadley and Leegomery.

Keay appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court today where he also faced a charge of arson, recklessly endangering life after a black taxi was set on fire feet from the owner's home on Acacia Drive, while his family slept upstairs.

Judge Mark Eades today adjourned the case until June 28 and remanded Keay in custody.
