A model and self-employed beauty therapist has been crowned Miss Shropshire vowing to "give it her best shot" to bring the Miss England title to the county.

Victoria Omlo, 23, was awarded the accolade after impressing a panel of judges in the grand final of the competition held at Birmingham's Malmaison Hotel last night.

She said it had been exciting to win the coveted the crown and was now looking forward to representing the county in the Miss England final to be held in Leicester on June 26. Victoria, from Telford, has already worked as model in London and now runs her own beauty business offering advice to clients.

"It is absolutely amazing to win the crown and I really did not believe I would do it," she said. "I am 23 now so this is the last year I could enter the competition. Winning has really been the icing on the cake.

"My family live in Telford and I will give it my best shot to bring the Miss England title to the country. It has been a wonderful experience and I will never forget it."

Although there was no official runner-up in the competition this year 23-year-old Lois Nelson, also from Telford, won the most popular accolade, which is gathered from online votes.

She is presently studying design and fashion at Huddersfield University.

Lois also received the award for raising money for the Beauty With a Purpose charity. Psychology student Nikki Sahota, 22, was awarded the Miss Black Country title at the event.
