A teenage girl has been sexually assaulted in Telford, police said today.

The 14-year-old girl was grabbed by a man who then tried to kiss her as she walked along Ironbridge Road in Madeley, close to Abraham Darby Academy, between 6pm and 7pm yesterday.

Police said the man started asking questions and then made several comments of a sexual nature to her. He then grabbed hold of her hand and tried to kiss her.

A Telford police spokesman said: "The victim has been left very shaken by this incident but she has been able to give us a description of the man that approached her.

"The man police want to identify is described as being white but quite tanned, about 5ft 10ins tall and aged in his early 20s.

"He is also described as wearing a dark coloured suit, a white shirt, a pink tie and a grey hat with a bobble on the top."
