Two motorcyclists have been killed in horrific crashes in Shropshire and Mid Wales.

The accidents happened in Adderley, near Market Drayton and Berriew, near Welshpool, on Saturday night. Both motorcyclists were male, police said. The victims have not yet been named and were due to be identified later today.

The accident at Adderley happened on the A529 near St Peter's Church at 6.45pm and no other vehicle was involved.

Chris Kowalik, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman, said: "We were called to the A529 near St. Peter's Church in Adderley just before 6.45pm.

"A community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance crew attended. An off-duty nurse was already in the area, trying to resuscitate the casualty.

"The motorcyclist, a man, was confirmed dead at the scene."

Inspector Andy Smith, of West Mercia Police, added: "On arrival we found a male patient had been involved and sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene at 7.16pm.

"We urge anybody with information to call us on 0300 3333000."

The road was closed on Saturday night but re-opened in the early hours of Sunday.

The accident at Berriew happened shortly after at 7.55pm.

Pc Aran Warein said: "At approximately 7.55pm, a single vehicle incident occurred on the B4385 at Berriew involving a Triumph motorbike. The rider sustained fatal injuries. We are appealing for witnesses to contact us on 0800 3302000."
