The Prime Minister this afternoon paid tribute to a 25-year-old airman from Telford who was killed while on active service in Afghanistan.
David Cameron acknowledged the sacrifice made by Corporal Brent McCarthy, of Priorslee, and his colleague Lance Corporal Lee Thomas Davies, from the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, who were shot dead on Saturday when two people in Afghan police uniforms opened fire near a Helmand patrol base.
Speaking at the start of Prime Minister's Questions, Mr Cameron paid tribute to their courage and sent condolences to their families.
He said the sacrifice the two men had made must 'never be forgotten'.
Labour Leader Ed Millband also paid his own tribute to the former Lilleshall Primary School and Orleton Park School pupil.
Tributes have also poured in from across the county.
Corporal McCarthy was based at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire and is expected to be repatriated tomorrow. His family have described him as a 'loving, sensitive young man'.
He was assigned to the base in 2009 where he volunteered to deploy with 174 Provost Company, 3rd Regiment Royal Military Police.
He leaves his father John, mother Sarah, sister Jodie, partner Sarah and niece and nephew Miajay and Kyron.
