A body pulled from the River Severn is believed to be that of missing 61-year-old Shrewsbury man Derek Ward, police said today.
A body pulled from the River Severn is believed to be that of missing 61-year-old Shrewsbury man Derek Ward, police said today.
Police have called off their search for the keen walker, of Kingston Drive, after a body was found in the river near Telford Way yesterday at about 3pm.
The body has yet to be formally identified but it is believed to be that of Mr Ward who went missing on May 1, police said. His family has been informed.

Mr Ward went missing after failing to return home from a stroll in the town and at the time was described by investigating officers as 'extremely vulnerable'.
Extensive searches were carried out near his home, including the grounds of Shrewsbury Cricket Club, Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology, the surrounds of Mere Pool and along the River Severn in the Emstrey.
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances and they are preparing a report for the Shropshire coroner, Mr John Ellery.
