Two teenagers have avoided being locked up after a girl was left with a fractured jaw when she was kicked in the head outside a Telford nightclub.

The judge told them they had behaved disgracefully.

Crystal Dexter, aged 18, and a 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, both admitted causing grievous bodily harm.

Dexter, of Oakfield Road Shawbirch, admitted kicking a girl in the head so hard that she needed surgery to her jaw.

The incident happened outside Pussycats Nightclub in Wellington at about 2.30am on May 27 last year.

The other defendant had earlier kicked the victim in the back and slapped her in the face, Shrewsbury Crown Court heard yesterday.

Dexter was given a 10- month sentence in a Young Offenders' Institution, suspended for two years, and 100 hours of unpaid work.

She was also given a curfew for three months and ordered to pay £500 in compensation to the victim.

The other defendant received a curfew.

Judge Peter Barrie said: "You had both been drinking and you behaved disgracefully. You have come to feel regret and remorse for the way you have behaved."

Mr Philip Beardwell, prosecuting, said the victim was taken to hospital and X-rays revealed fractures on the left and right side of the face which required four plates to repair.

Mr Simon Worlock, defending Dexter, said she had been drinking. He said she had been racially abused before the incident.
