A gang of up to five men is believed to have attacked and robbed a man of his mobile phone as he made his way home after a night out in Wellington.
The victim – a 33 year-old man – was on his way home when he stopped and sat by the side of the road in Whitchurch Drive at about 4am yesterday.
Moments later he was approached by a group of up to five men who struck up a conversation with him.
The man became suspicious but as he began walking away he was attacked and his iPhone 4 was taken.
He was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital by ambulance, where he was treated for cuts and bruises to his face and head.
Denise Wakefield, spokeswoman for Telford police, said: "The man doesn't remember much from the attack."
