A soldier who trained in Shropshire has been cleared of breaking a woman's ankle after she stepped in during a row between him and his wife.
Staff Sergeant Alan Cree, 37, trained at Tern Hill barracks before being posted to Afghanistan.
He had just returned from a stint of service to his then-home at the barracks when the incident was alleged to have happened.
Shrewsbury Crown Court heard he attended a party hosted by Serena Campbell last May.
It was alleged Cree, now of Warminster, Wiltshire, inflicted grievous bodily harm on Mrs Campbell by stamping on her ankle, breaking it, while he rowed with his wife Moire.
He denied the allegation and a jury at the court yesterday found him not guilty of the charge.
