More than 80 staff at Shropshire's two main hospitals are being consulted on their future as services are reorganised, it has been revealed.

But hospital bosses say the talks, part of plans to move all head and neck inpatient services to Telford's Princess Royal Hospital this year, are not about redundancy.

Some 84 members of staff at the Royal Shrewsbury and Telford's Princess Royal hospitals are involved in the 30-day consultation, which began just over a week ago.

A spokesman for The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust said: "As part of any internal change process we are consulting with our members of staff.

"We always aim to provide a positive and transparent approach to service change and have clear policy guidance to make sure our processes reflect current legislation and good management practice."
