Tom Campbell, who broadcasts in Shropshire and Wolverhampton on Signal 107 from 6am to 10pm, will make his debut on Thursday and will be fulfilling a new year resolution to try live stand-up.
Mr Campbell, who has recorded a weekly music podcast for shropshirestar.com in the past, plans to entertain the audience with real life stories about his mishaps and misdemeanours.
He said: "Doing a stand-up gig was my New Year resolution. I'll never take up roller blading and I'll never lose weight, so I decided to try and do something that's achievable.
"My girlfriend, Abi, had a chat with stand up comic Paul Savage, in Wolverhampton, and he came back to me. He said: 'I understand I can make your dream come true – we're booking you for a stand-up gig'."
Mr Campbell, who lived in Shrewsbury for three years, will be at The Stile, in Whitmore Reans, on Thursday at 8.30pm.
He said: "There'll be plenty of other comedians on the bill – so people will get their money's worth.
"I'm hoping to tell a few real life stories, like how I failed my driving test on the grounds of public safety – the driving instructor actually said that.
"There are plenty of others, like making super noodles in a kettle at the age of 27."
Mr Campbell, a former presenter of the Shropshire Star Battle of the Bands competition, said appearing as a stand-up would be much tougher than broadcasting on radio.
