They seek him here . . . they seek him there. Puzzled residents in Albrighton are wondering just where a peacock which has been spotted around the town will turn up next.

The green and blue peacock has been spotted striding down Albrighton's high street, through housing estates and perching on cars.

Diane Podmore, 54, said she was leaving her house when she spotted the peacock on the road outside her home in St Cuthberts Crescent.

Mrs Podmore, who keeps birds including parrots and cockatiels herself, said: "It was seen walking through the high street and past the paper shop at about 10.30am yesterday. Then at about 1.40pm my husband and I were about to take things to the skip and we saw the peacock coming down the road."

She added: "The neighbours came out and were looking at it. They were fascinated by it. It has a huge tail span. It looks in really good condition except its tail does looks a bit damaged. It could just be moulting."

Mrs Podmore added the peacock is becoming well known in the town.

"I put pictures of it on Facebook last night and people were commenting and saying they have seen it around for about a week. It has been sitting on cars and out and about on the roads," she added.

"We had to go off to the skip but when we came back it had gone. I could hear it last night and when I was doing some gardening yesterday evening so I think it is still in the area."
