The driver and passenger of a car had a lucky escape when a brick was dropped onto their car as they drove along the M54, smashing a window.

The brick was dropped from a bridge over the motorway at junction 7 of the M54 at Cluddley at about 4.30pm yesterday.

The driver, a 53-year-old man from Wellington, was travelling towards junction 7 heading west. As he drove towards the bridge he noticed three white males and two bicycles on the top of the bridge.

As he approached the bridge a brick was dropped and hit the front passenger side of the vehicle. The driver and his female passenger escaped unharmed.

Telford Police spokeswoman Denise Wakefield said: "Fortunately the driver and his front seat passenger were not injured. However they were extremely shaken."

Police can be contacted by calling 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
