People in Craven Arms could receive their post at any time during the day due to plans put forward by Royal Mail chiefs to alter delivery times, it has been revealed.

Royal Mail bosses say town residents should expect changes to postal delivery times over the next few weeks and say letters could arrive at any point during the day as routes are changed.

They have claimed the changes in Craven Arms mean postmen will continue to deliver in the morning and for a longer period during the day with some customer's continuing to get their mail by lunchtime.

But the time customers receive mail will depend on where they live on the new delivery route. This may be later or possibly earlier than current delivery times.

It has also been revealed when volumes of mail vary delivery arrangements and times could be altered.

Letters have been sent to every house and business in Craven Arms advising people about the changes, which will be brought in over the next few weeks.

Neville Stephens, a long-serving town councillor in Craven Arms, said he hoped the changes would not inconvenience local residents.

Adrian Booth from the Royal Mail communications group said: "We are writing to every address in Craven Arms about these changes and this includes households, businesses and other organisations.

"The way in which we communicate with each other has changed dramatically.

"Unfortunately, fewer letters are now posted every day and Royal Mail needs to organise its delivery routes to be as efficient as possible.

"We also deliver larger items and so we are investing in new equipment to carry these items to customers even more securely."
