Campaigners set up Shropshire windfarms website

A website specially designed to help people in Shropshire raise concerns over the future of the county's rural environment has gone live.
Save Our Shropshire, a group set up to help preserve the county's rural heritage, created the website as an interactive notice board to help those worried about the landscape being blighted.
Frank Bury, of Munslow, near Craven Arms, said the website acted as an on-line forum for like-minded people.
It enables them and other groups to share views and items of information.
"There are many in Shropshire who are desperately worried about issues which they feel will not only blight the environment in a completely inappropriate way, but also have a dramatic effect on the quality of their own lives," said Mr Bury.
"The obvious example is concern over plans for wind farms – and the subsequent pylon networks – in parts of the county simply not suitable for such projects.
"However, the website is equally relevant for those worried about other major planning issues such as housing developments or waste disposal sites.
"Save Our Shropshire has been devised as a mouthpiece to help these voices be heard and, if possible, point them in the right direction for taking appropriate and effective action. The Save Our Shropshire website has been added to its social media platforms – namely Twitter and Facebook – to help communicate the information.
"All sensible and informative contributions are welcome."
Mr Bury said Save Our Shropshire was set up after plans were tabled for a wind farm at Upton Cressett near Bridgnorth. "We are fully behind renewable energy projects but only if they are effective and suitable," said Mr Bury.
"If not, we are in grave danger of finding ourselves in a situation where the county's visual appeal and character has been destroyed completely needlessly."
