Police today released a CCTV image of a man suspected of attacking two shop assistants at a garage in Telford in a row over petrol prices.

The two men were punched and suffered cuts and bruises when a customer became angry about the prices at the BP service station, in Parkway, Madeley.

CCTV images have now been released of a man, believed to be in his late teens to early 20s, who police believe may be connected with the incident.

The assault happened at about 6.50pm on May 26. Telford police spokeswoman Denise Wakefield said: "We are hoping that somebody will be able to identify the individual from the CCTV image.

"Police would ask anyone who knows him to come forward and give us a call."

The two shop assistants were confronted by a man who was complaining about the fuel prices at the petrol station.

He then became angry and punched one of the sales assistants in the head.

The man then went behind the counter where he continued punching the assistant.

Another member of staff grabbed the suspect's arm, but he was also then attacked.

The two shop assistants were left with injuries including cuts and bruises, but were not seriously hurt.

Police are hoping releasing the CCTV image will help them to track down the suspect.

He is described as white, about 5ft 10in to 6ft tall, of slim build and with short, light brown hair.

He was wearing a white Manchester United away top, which had red and navy patches on the sleeves, and beige coloured shorts.

Anyone with information should call Telford Police on 0300 333 3000 and ask to speak to Police Constable Jade North.
