Torchbearers from Shropshire were greeted with huge crowds as the Olympic torch made a triumphant return to the Midlands.

Elliot Clee, 15, from Bridgnorth, took the flame through Wolverhampton on Saturday, with tens of thousands lining the streets to watch.

The teenager who works weekends at Bell Service Station, Belbroughton, was born with a rare chromosome disorder and raises money for research into the problem.

He has taken part in a number of activities to help raise cash including a John O Groats to Lands End cycle ride and has seen a special trust fund exceed £40,000. During the day he attends a special school in Shropshire.

Sophie Flanagan, 20, from Trench, who carried the torch through Dudley, was chosen as one of Coca-Cola's Future Flames, inspiring young people who use their passions in music, sport and environment to spread happiness in their communities.

Sophie is a swimming teacher, snorkelling instructor, club captain and a sports volunteer who encourages younger people to participate in various activities and motivates them to be the best they can be in their performance.

Sophie found herself with celebrity torchbearer, Blue Peter's Helen Skelton. The double world record holder for her north pole adventures was on the same leg of the procession.

Also carrying the torch through Bloxwich was James Dowdell, 32, from Telford. He has been raising money for both local and national charities for many years, took up running as a way of keeping fit and started to enter races three years ago to help more charities.
