Shropshire-born England goalkeeper Joe Hart has started to put the national side's Euro 2012 woes behind him – as he relaxed in the sunshine in Ibiza with Premier League pals Danny Welbeck, Michael Carrick and Andy Carroll.
The former Meole Brace School pupil, 25, who started his career at Shrewsbury Town, attended the opening of a bar by TV soccer host Gary Lineker's brother Wayne.
The star, who now plays for Premier League champions Manchester City, took the opportunity to top up his tan at the Ocean Beach Club, enjoying a drink in beach shorts and sunglasses.
His well-earned break from the football field comes just a few days after England suffered penalty shoot-out heartbreak against eventual finalists Italy. Hart said he was 'devastated' to see England go out at the quarter-final stage of the competition.
"I thought it was going to be our night because of the side we had, the heart we had, the quality we had, but unfortunately it wasn't to be. We didn't do well in the shoot-out, myself included," he said.
But Hart and the other England players were in a better mood on the Spanish island as they enjoyed their break.
One reveller said: "The players were having a great time."
