Bosses at a hotel in Shropshire have unveiled details of a £2 million scheme to refurbish the venue over the next 12 months.

Plans for Tern Hill Hall Hotel, near Market Drayton, include creating 12 individually designed bedrooms and new dining, banqueting and meeting rooms. Hotel owner Peter Marson said the project was aimed at making the hotel one of the leading wedding venues in the area.

Mr Marson, who bought the hotel earlier this year, wants to make the hall an exclusive events venue.

The hall has been used as a hotel over the last 30 years, hosting many wedding ceremonies and parties.

Mr Marson said "I have visited Tern Hill Hall on numerous occasions to dine with my family and attend many parties. I have always thought what great potential the hall has.

"In the first few months of the owning the hall it has been clear to see what a big part the hall has to play in the local community, our customers have so many fond memories of the hall.

"The plans will see the hall transformed.

Mr Marson's son Richard, 34, and daughter Tracey, 26, will be the driving force behind the redevelopment.

"We see great potential to develop Tern Hill Hall to become an idyllic country hotel where our focus is going to be on excellent service, comfort and style," said Tracey.

Richard added: "Although we have big refurbishment plans for the hall we intend to remain open while the work is carried out."
