Shropshire archer Alison Williamson, equalled the record for the most appearances for a Briton at the Olympic Games this afternoon when she started competing in her sixth games.

The 40-year-old from Church Stretton was competing at Lord's in the ranking round of the archery competition ahead of the team event, which is held on Sunday, with the battle for individual medals tomorrow.

However, there was some controversy surrounding the event.

Despite being advertised as free for spectators, sports writer Scott Wilson said fans were now being told it was closed to the public.
