Two brothers from Shropshire were today facing lengthy jail sentences of more than 10 years after being found guilty of targeting schoolgirls for sex and selling two of them as prostitutes.

Mubarek and Ahdel Ali will be assessed for dangerousness before being sentenced for the sexual abuse, rape, trafficking, prostitution and attempted prostitution of four teenagers.

Ahdel Ali, 24, was found guilty of 18 offences and cleared of one of inciting a girl to have sex with a man.

Mubarek Ali, 29, was found guilty of seven charges including offences of trafficking in the UK for sexual exploitation. The brothers faced a total of 26 charges involving the sexual abuse and exploitation of the four victims who were aged between 13 to 16.

Judge Patrick Thomas QC will sentence the brothers, both of Regent Street, Wellington, in October in Worcester. The seven-week trial at Stafford Crown Court heard that Ahdel Ali had groomed a 13-year-old victim from the day he first met her and later raped her in his car.

He also had sex with the teenager on six other occasions, and he had sex with two other 15-year old girls, both of whom were later 'pimped out' by the two brothers.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Jamieson said the convictions were the result of a massive police investigation and paid tribute to 'the strength and character shown by all of the victims'.

Harry Ireland, Chief Crown Prosecutor from West Midlands Crown Prosecution Service, said the Alis had variously groomed, trafficked, raped and engaged in sexual activity with girls both under and over the age of 16 years.

He added: "Those girls were vulnerable due to their age and sometimes personal circumstances, and these individuals exploited their weakness for their own gratifications."
