The parents of a teenager who died when the car he was travelling in ploughed through a hedge and into a fishing lake have paid tribute to their 'wonderful son'.

Ben Henshaw, 16, of Alveley, near Bridgnorth, was due to receive his GCSE results in a few weeks' time and was expecting to start an apprenticeship this year.

But his life was tragically cut short when, at about 12.25am on Monday, his silver Peugeot 206 left Patshull Road, Burnhill Green, near Pattingham, and entered The Great Pool, which is a lake near Patshull Park Hotel.

The 18-year-old male driver and 15-year-old female front-seat passenger got out of the water and were treated by ambulance crews at the scene.

But Ben's body was found in the lake later that day.

Now his parents, Tim and Trudi Henshaw, have paid tribute to him as a 'wonderful son, brother and grandson who touched the hearts of all who knew him'.

They said: "He had such a positive and fun-loving attitude towards life. He was a popular lad within the village of Alveley, Bridgnorth and the surrounding areas.

"He had such a great future ahead of him. Our much loved Ben will be sadly missed by all his family and all his wonderful friends."

Ben's funeral service will be held at St Mary's Church, Alveley, at 2pm on Friday.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 15 of August 6.
