Shropshire movie maker David Tristram is bringing his madcap detective Inspector Drake back to the cinema for a sequel.
The 53-year-old received worldwide acclaim after transferring his crime spoof from amateur dramatic stage to the silver screen last year. Now Inspector Drake is set to return for a second adventure in The Seagull, which will get its world premiere in October.
The second film once again uses several Shropshire locations, including Blists Hill Victorian Town in Ironbridge, and the Severn Valley Country Park near Alveley.
Mr Tristram, from Highley, near Bridgnorth, admitted he had been 'bitten by the bug' of movie making after writing, directing and editing the first Drake film.
The first Drake film took the hapless policeman – a cross between Basil Fawlty and Inspector Clouseau – on a roller-coaster of spoof and silliness in the spirit of Carry On, The Goons, and Monty Python.

It was a big hit on the independent film circuit, showing as far afield as Australia and New Zealand.
In the sequel, Drake is on the trail of a ruthless serial killer who commits a hat trick of murders in a hat shop.
The only eye witness has no eyes, and the shop owner is convinced the killer was a 6ft tall seagull.
"Work on the sequel is nearing completion now, and we're pretty pleased with it," said Mr Tristram, who has this time also written the music and lyrics for the title song.
Am-dram stalwart Alan Birch from Stourbridge is reprising his role as the 1930s detective, and the cast includes several Shropshire actors, including Tom Roberts, who is currently appearing in TV soap Doctors, having previously had roles in Hustle and Waterloo Road.
