Man, 21, attacked in Bridgnorth on walk home

A 21-year-old man was attacked in Bridgnorth town centre on his walk home.

The man was shouted at then punched in the head and kneed in the stomach by the attacker last night, leaving him with a gash to the forehead and a sore jaw.

The attacker ran off up St John's Hill, leaving the victim on the ground. Members of the public came to his aid and called paramedics.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened in Mill Street between 11.15pm and 11.45pm. Police said it appeared to be unprovoked.

The assailant was desc-ribed as about 5ft 5ins to 5ft 8ins tall, chubby and wearing a blue or grey horizontally-striped hoody and jeans.
