Crash victim Lee Alexander loved life and was always smiling
A 29-year-old scaffolder who died in a car crash in Shropshire was today described as a larger-than-life character who could light up a room.
Tributes have poured in for 29-year-old Lee Alexander who died after the green Range Rover he was driving collided with a lamppost and a tree in Ironbridge Road, Jackfield.
Mr Alexander had been visiting friends when the tragedy happened.
His devastated parents Andrew and Lesley said: "He was just a happy-go-lucky kid, a real larger-than-life character.
"He had a great love of the outdoors and had to be doing something all the time.
"He loved fishing, shooting, boxing, walking, camping – he was like a boy scout.
"As soon as he walked into a room you just took to him. He lit up the place and would get on well with anybody.
"He always had a big smile on his face and you could never get him down."
Tragedy
Mr Alexander, of Forge Valley Way, Wombourne, near Wolverhampton, and a former pupil of Westfield Primary School and Ounsdale High School, was part of a large family.
Siblings Emma, 32, Natalie, 30, and Neil, 25, set up a Facebook tribute group in his honour following the tragedy, which happened in the early hours of Sunday.
It has already attracted more than 800 members.
His parents said they had been overwhelmed by the response from friends and family.
Mrs Alexander, 51, said: "We've had people knocking on our door who we don't even know and the support has been tremendous.
"But Lee had so many friends from all over the place."
His funeral will take place at St Benedict Biscop Church, in Wombourne, on Thursday at 2pm.
Donations should be made to the Midlands Air Ambulance.
