Bid for place in panto with Strictly's Dallerup
It was Strictly panto time in Telford when 24 young performers booked their tickets to go to the ball with television dance star Camilla Dallerup.
She is starring in Cinderella at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place, which begins a 40-show run on December 7.
And sharing the limelight with the star of Strictly Come Dancing will be eight senior and 16 junior dancers from the local area.
Miss Dallerup will play the fairy godmother in a production which also stars Telford actress Lucy Pollard in the title role. The young dancers were put through their paces in auditions at the theatre yesterday and will start rehearsing in November.
Nicola Carmichael-Phillips, the show's children's co-ordinator, said: "We had 38 juniors auditioning for 16 places and 20 seniors for eight places. The standard was very high."
The dancers will be led by Olivia Phillips, 19, and Claire Crossley, 17, both from Telford, who will perform at every show.
Adding the fairy dust to this year's production is Miss Dallerup, who shot to fame when she won the hit BBC dance show Strictly Come Dancing at her sixth attempt in 2008, along with actor Tom Chambers.
Also taking to the stage will be comedy duo Mark Two and Jamie Steen as the Ugly Sisters, Ricky K as Buttons and Telford's Ian Billings as Baron Hardup.
