Mr Compton said: "Ben had been visiting the Ark for several years, and always came with a smile and a friendly word. We enjoyed his company, and it was always a pleasure to take the time to speak with him.

"He would often spend time working on his own poems, writing songs or painting, and he shared his love of life with everyone.

"With his gentle and pleasant nature, he was always a welcome visitor and will be very sadly missed by us all."

Vicky Newcombe wrote on the tribute site: "Will miss all those chats with you when I see you out and about, about life, music, poetry, love and nature.

"All the things that made you YOU Ben, words cannot express the sadness I feel."

Lou Rickman, added: "Rest in peace Benson, thoughts and love to your parents, family and friends."
