Passenger dies days after Telford crash

A 29-year-old man from Shropshire has died in hospital nine days after an accident which claimed the life of another man.

James Topliss, of Benthall, near Broseley, died in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham yesterday morning.

Mr Topliss was travelling in a green Range Rover estate when the accident happened in Jackfield.

The driver, Lee Andrew Alexander, 29, from Wombourne, died at the scene.

Mr Topliss's sister, Clare, 23, was also in the car at the time of the accident and is recovering at home.

Miss Topliss said today: "James was an amazing brother, son to our mum and father to his son.

"He was loved by all his friends and was known for being an amazing and very popular bloke."

Police spokesman Denise Wakefield said: "A man who was involved in a road traffic collision on the Ironbridge Road, in Jackfield, on September 2, has died.

"The man who was in his 20s died in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the early hours of yesterday."
