He had been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in Birmingham after the accident in Jackfield, near Broseley.

Mr Topliss, 29, was travelling along the Ironbridge to Broseley Road on September 2 when the Range Rover estate he was in hit a tree and a lamp post on a bend.

His sister, Clare, 23, was also involved in the crash at about 2.50am, but is now recovering at home. Both were passengers in the car.

Driver Lee Andrew Alexander, 29, from Forge Valley Way, Wombourne, died at the scene.

Miss Topliss said: "James was an amazing brother, son to our mum and dad and father to his son. He was loved by all his friends and was known for being an amazing and popular bloke."

A fundraiser is being held on Saturday evening at Bar 67 in Broseley High Street in memory of Mr Topliss.

Money raised will go to his six-year-old son, Archie.
