Telford & Wrekin Council has been asked to set out the development opportunities at MoD Donnington to put before the Ministry of Defence. Councillor Kuldip Sahota, leader of Telford & Wrekin Council, said he believed the base was a 'viable and attractive' site for future investment by the MoD.

The MoD is undergoing an overhaul of its logistic commodities and services (LCS) section, which will begin with an assessment phase. They say it is important that it fully understands the opportunities and challenges available at its main sites.

Councillor Sahota said: "We are delighted to be given the opportunity to show the MoD that Donnington represents a viable and attractive investment proposal which would deliver on all of the strategic objectives that they have set.

"Council officers have been working closely with MoD officials to ensure that they are aware of Donnington's strengths and potential. Obviously it is very good news that we have been formally asked to put Donnington's case forward," he said.

"We believe the Telford and Wrekin area has the skills, the workforce, the land, the infrastructure and the drive and desire to be a modern centre of excellence for logistics."

It is expected that the presentation by the council will be made either towards the end of 2012 or in early 2013.
