Staff at The Armoury pub in Shrewsbury are taking bids for the lucky boots, along with a signed letter from the footballer, to boost funds for Severn Hospice.

Shrewsbury-born goalkeeper Hart played a key part in helping Manchester City secure the title last season.

He was wearing the boots during City's dramatic 3-2 win against Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the season, which snatched the title away from arch-rivals Manchester United.

Armoury barman Finn McCann, who went to Meole Brace School with the footballer, managed to secure the donation.

The Armoury's assistant manager Jessica Turner, said: "We are hoping to get a fair amount for the boots, especially as they come with the signed letter.

"We decided as a pub that all the money we raise for charity this year will go to Severn Hospice."

Customers are being invited to submit sealed bids for the boots. The total will be updated on the venue's blackboard.

The highest bid so far is £375, but the auction will remain open until Monday at 7pm. To find out more details visit The Armoury or call (01743) 340525.
