Telford stab victim still critical after street knife attack
A 36-year-old man was in a critical condition in hospital this afternoon after being found injured with stab wounds in a street in Telford.
The man, who has not been named, was discovered in Harp Lane, Dawley, shortly after an incident at about 4am yesterday.
Police have arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He was taken to Malinsgate Police Station in Telford for questioning and remains in custody this afternoon.
Detective Inspector Pete Brophy, who is investigating the incident, said he was keen for people with information to come forward.
He said: "We believe the victim was in the Three Furnaces pub earlier on during the night on Saturday with others, including women.
"At some point an alleged altercation broke out in the pub. We are eager to speak to anyone who was there at the time and witnessed the altercation. We also want to trace the women who were with the victim.
"In addition we want to speak to anyone who was in Harp Lane at about 4am and heard or saw anything that could help us.
"If you have any information at all then it is imperative that you come forward and speak to the police."
Inspector Emma Wright appealed for witnesses and said police activity was continuing in the area around New Road and Harp Lane.
