Perms out and nappies in as pregnancy fever hits Shropshire salon

There must be something in the water at a hairdressers in Shropshire as three members of staff have given birth and another is expecting.

Sophisticutz Hair Beauty and Tanning Salon, near Shawbury, currently has three members of staff on maternity leave and manager Helen Humphreys, 35, is due to give birth on November 2.

Stylist Katie Alsadek, 25, of Shrewsbury, already has a two-year-old daughter called Ruby, gave birth to her son Riley in April. He weighed in at 7lbs 15oz. Sam Mapp, 28, of Telford, a beauty therapist and nail technician, also gave birth in April to her first child, Grace, who weighed 9lbs 3oz.

And stylist Vicky Smith , 22, of Norton-in-Hales, near Market Drayton, gave birth to her son Finnley in August. Finnley came in at 6lbs 13oz.

Mrs Humphreys has had to take on a full-time stylist and full-time beauty therapist to cover the maternity leave.

"It is a very exciting time, everyone said there has been a pattern to the babies and I should be having a girl now, they are all guessing the sex," she said.

"We say if you know of anyone who wants to have a baby they should come here and have some water or a cup of tea.

"It's just a bit of fun, we're guessing who is going to be next."
